Galvin Family

Originally from Melbourne, Australia, the Galvin’s have lived in Bangkok twice: firstly from 1994 to 1997 – before the Skytrain, subway, unleaded petrol and Starbucks!!! – and this stay since September 2004. Matthew was born in Singapore where we lived prior to Bangkok, and Katherine was born here in Bangkok in 1996. In between the Bangkok stays, the family moved back to Melbourne for 7 years.
John works quite near the Regent’s School Bangkok for a subsidiary of the Kantana Group, one of Thailand’s oldest and largest film studios. He is the Director of Post Production at Oriental Post, a 50-50 joint venture by Kantana and Loxley Video Post, which means he is responsible for everything done to the television commercial or movie after it is shot and before you see it on the screen.

Gina is a freelance personal trainer and also involved with the F.I.T. School in Ploenchit.

Matt is in Year 12, a skateboard always attached to his feet or a guitar in his arms, and Kate is in Year 8, a keen swimmer and lover of facebook.

Choo Family

For most of the past decade, we led a typical middle class life in Singapore:
  • Calvin was a "weekend husband-father", who had to travel extensively for work
  • Serline was a fashion designer-merchandiser, who gave up her career to be full-time mistress of the house
  • Janelle and Andre went to a renowned school in the neighbourhood
  • We lived in a semi-detached house in Pemimpin Place, where our dogs - Snowy and Ringo - could roam freely in the garden
Then we decided to make some changes, so that we could spend more time together as a family. Calvin accepted a job with Laguna Holiday Club (LHC), and the family moved to Phuket in 2007. One year later, Narelle Serline was born.

In August 2009, the family moved to Bangkok, where Calvin oversees the contact centre, as well as the hospitality staff at various properties within the LHC family of resorts. Janelle and Andre are in Year 10 and 8, respectively, at the Regent's School Bangkok campus. Because of Snowy and Ringo, there are some limitations to where we can live in Bangkok, but we have settled comfortably into President Park.
